St. George’s Pre-School Ltd

St George's Pre-School, formerly called the Playgroup has been providing sessional care for over 45 years, and is open from Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 3 p.m. during term time. There is funding for 3 and 4 year olds, and for 30 hours. It has a manager, deputy and three members of staff, all of whom have appropriate child care certificates. The Pre-School is in receipt of funding for nursery education for three and four-year olds, and is inspected by OFSTED, the last occasion being June 2016.

The children are cared for in a happy and relaxed environment, and are well occupied with a range of activities set out in the large hall, which is bright and welcoming, and displays childrens work on the walls. There is a wide range of equipment, which is suitable for the childrens developmental needs. Staff support and extend the children’s learning as the children play. The smaller hall is used for quiet activities, such as story-telling, or singing, and there is also a side room, which contains a computer for the childrens use.

New parents are provided with a basic prospectus that outlines information about the group. Parents have access to policies, and the planning each day is available to view. Staff are always willing to discuss any issues or concerns with parents.

Activities in the room are set out to reflect the six areas of learning, which are Communication, Language and Literacy; Mathematics; Personal Social and Emotional Development; Knowledge and Understanding of the World; Physical Development; and Creative Development.
